Not even the CFMEU can trust Shorten and Plibersek

Labor MP Cathy O’Toole, whose ultra-marginal seat of Herbert takes in Townsville, vowed ‘hand on heart’ that federal Labor would not change the mine’s approvals.

“Just get on with it”, Mr Smyth said. “Accept it and get on with it. We don’t need any more delays. There will probably be other mines in Queensland announced by the time Adani gets off the ground. It just keeps going on and on and on”.

[But] Plibersek [who is defending her inner-city seat against extremist Greens] dodged questions at the weekend over whether a Shorten government would put the environmental approvals of the mine back under scrutiny. “There are quite a few hurdles, for this project still to jump, including things like the state government has some ¬≠approvals that it still needs to give”, Plibersek told ABC radio.
