Maroubra property developer Michael Petrovic warmly embracing Mr Daley at an ALP function for the party faithful after he won the Maroubra state seat in 2005.
Mr Petrovic said the hug was a ‘matter of courtesy’ and he was not a good friend of Mr Daley, but a ‘proud member of the Labor Party’.
‘It could have been anybody’
Anybody?
Last week Daley said ‘donations were kept at arm’s length by councillors by Labor Party head office’.
‘I didn’t know they were donations’, he said. ‘I didn’t know they were donors’.
‘The crux of all this, you are asking me questions from 15 years ago’.
…also known as ‘The Shorten defence’:
Sequence of events:
- In November 2003, during the first DA assessment , Daley was chairman of the council’s planning committee and did not declare a conflict of interest or oppose the application.
- In March and June 2004, Mr Petrovic, through one of his companies, donated $10,000 to the Labor Randwick Council campaign — which included Daley.
- In August 2004, a second DA was considered by the council, including Mr Daley, with increases in floor space ratios, and consent was granted with no disclosures.
