Coalition targets 76 Canberra jobs as another agency goes bush

The Coalition government is moving 76 (of 288) Murray Darling Basin Authority jobs from Canberra to the bush. Staff could face a choice between Mildura, Griffith, Murray Bridge, or a town yet to be announced.

The main public sector union warned the Murray Darling Basin Authority had been in Canberra as a neutral location to manage the river system in the interests of all Australians, rather than the self-interested agendas of a few.

Comment:

  1. The 76 will have to face townspeople in the regions who are impacted by their decisions.
  2. Hard to see how anyone wouldn’t welcome the move as Canberra is artificial and boring & expensive
