Heritage Bank (Queensland) is threatening to sue Labor leader Bill Shorten for allegedly stealing their “people first” slogan for his election campaign. Lawyers for Heritage Bank says Mr Shorten campaigning on “putting people first” creates the impression the bank “is affiliated or has endorsed the Labor Party”. The bank has claimed a customer confronted a branch manager accusing it of being a “supporter of the ALP” and “threatened to withdraw his substantial term deposits”.
